Let us help you plan your Frio River vacation

Added: Feb 26, 2021
Category: Our recommendations

Let us BUILD your weekend ITENERARY!

Overall here is some top things to do, we will help you organize them into your trip.

1.) The Back Porch at The Leakey Inn is obviously our favorite thing to do! Live music on Friday nights with Charritos Food truck. Our food truck and full bar is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday! The Back Porch is a great hang out to play games while browsing around our boutique & country store. Grab a homemade sandwich & chips or homemade snack, and sip on your favorite beverage! WE HAVE TOOTIE PIES!

2.) The Three Sisters scenic route is extremely popular but after that, you may take some time to do it again backwards for a whole new aspect and take a day to ride Texas 39 into Kerrville, where you cross the Guadalupe River 12 times! It's beautiful!

3.) Lost Maples Winery in Vanderpool is a great scenic route from Leakey where you can enjoy a great glass of Hill Country Wine and bring a bottle home with you for the evening.

4.) Float the Frio! Happy Hollow is 5 minutes south of Leakey and is a great way to spend the day.

5.) Garner State Park and/or Lost Maples State Park! Birdwatching, Hiking, Camping, etc. You must book a reservation with them early!

6.) House Pasture Cattle Co. in Concan, Tx (20 minutes south of us). Texas music artists play every weekend! Check out LOCAL ATTRACTIONS on our website for more information.

7.) Club at Concan (20 minutes south of us). Before the concert at House Pasture, enjoy a day of golf!

Here is what we recommend!
Thursday arrival at The Leakey Inn~

Unpack and come have a nice cold beverage at The Back Porch (just steps from your cabin)
Take a quick dip in the on premise pool.

Head to Bear's Den sports bar with beer & wine (across the street) for live music and dinner.

Wake up to a great breakfast at Mill Creek Cafe.

RIDERS: the Three Sisters Route (335, 336, 337). This road is great forward and backward! Take a quick jaunt off of 336 for some fantastic jerky and sandwiches at Garvin's Store on the corner of 41 and 83. Campwood Texas has great bites at Campwood Cafe & Kings BBQ (highly recommended).

RIVER RATS: Spend the day at Garner State Park or Lost Maples State Park (Lost Maples Winery is also a great spot to see). You must reserve your spot/day pass early.

Come home and cool off and get ready for full bar, live music & Charritos Taco Truck at The Back Porch, just steps from your cabin.  Uel Jackson on stage is a hoot! Every once in a while, he will have a special guest join him for added fun!

Jarritos Taco Truck has great breakfast tacos or just stick with Mill Creek Cafe.

RIDERS: Head N on 83 to 39 (beautiful route that crosses the Guadalupe 12 times) headed to Kerrville. We recommend The Boat, Humble Fork or Grape Juice for lunch in Kerrville. Take 16 into Medina and Bandera for a bight or a beer and head to Tarpley and Utopia for more more Texas Hill Country Scenery and back to Leakey!

RIVER RATS: Head out early for Happy Hollow to Float the Frio! Located 5 miles S. Spend a relaxing day floating and getting some sun.

Head to Panjo's Pizza at The Pecan Farm (1/2 mile from Leakey Inn) tonight for live music and dancing! Family Friendly and outdoor fun.

About The Leakey Inn

Bradley and Dallas Hart are the owners of The Historic Leakey Inn. We very much look forward to your stay with us! We have three FANTASTIC kids, Hailey, Haden and Karson and our dog Max, the boxer. We are a family ran business and we love it. Bradley worked in the corporate restaurant business for years, opening stores for Brinker Intl. We had an opportunity to open our own restaurants (3 of them) until a fire put us in a whole new world. Things must happen for a reason. We continued to move forward and with many prayers, God guided us to the lodging business. We love it! Thanks for reading, I hope it was interesting enough. If you have a minute, check out our BLOG for interesting reads. Like us on Facebook below and we are #leakeyinnbar on Twitter and Instagram
